How does red light therapy work?
Red and near-infrared light therapy works by stimulating the mitochondria in our cells to produce more energy. When our cells have more energy to function, we look, feel, and perform our best.
-
01
Light absorbed by mitochondria
660nm red and 850nm near-infrared photons are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in the cell.
-
02
ATP production increases
Mitochondria ramp up cellular energy production, supporting natural repair and recovery processes.
-
03
Tissue, skin & performance benefits
Used daily, consistent light exposure supports skin renewal, muscle recovery, sleep, and everyday wellness.

Common questions
Everything you need to know about red light therapy panels and how to choose the right one.
What's the difference between the HG, PRO, and ULTRA series?
All three series share the same clinically proven 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared wavelengths and the same 3-year warranty. The differences are in the LED architecture and feature set:
HG Series — Single-chip LEDs. Our most affordable line, perfect for first-time users and targeted use. Starting at $149.
PRO Series — Dual-chip LEDs for higher irradiance and faster sessions. Advanced flicker-free drivers and mobile stand compatibility (for Pro750 and 1500). Starting at $299.
ULTRA Series — Quad-chip LEDs with four wavelengths (630, 660, 810, 850nm), pulse mode, adjustable brightness, and remote control. Our top tier. Starting at $399.

How long does it take to see results?
Every body and every condition is different, so results vary from person to person. Red light therapy works at the cellular level — supporting circulation, mitochondrial energy production, and tissue repair. Because these are internal biological processes, the changes are often subtle and gradual, and they may not always show up as a sensation or symptom you can easily perceive day-to-day.
That said, most customers report noticeable improvements in skin appearance, recovery, and sleep quality within 2–4 weeks of consistent daily use (5–15 minutes per treatment area, 5–7 days per week). Skin-related benefits typically appear first, while deeper tissue and recovery benefits build over 8–12 weeks of regular use.
Consistency matters more than session length — short daily sessions outperform occasional long ones. The goal is simply to deliver the right amount of light energy to your tissue on a regular basis.
Is red light therapy safe?
Yes. Red and near-infrared light therapy is non-invasive, non-thermal, and FDA-cleared for general wellness use. Unlike UV light, it doesn't damage the skin or carry cancer risk. Side effects are rare and usually limited to mild eye strain if used without protection or temporary skin warmth during long sessions. We recommend Hooga eye protection for all panel sessions and consulting your doctor if you're pregnant, on photosensitizing medication, or have a light-sensitive condition.
What's your return policy?
Every Hooga panel comes with a 60-day in-home trial and a 3-year warranty. If you're not satisfied within 60 days of delivery, return it for a full refund — no restocking fees, no questions asked. Free US shipping on orders over $99 and free returns on panels. Wearables and targeted devices follow the same 60-day window. See our full Return Policy for international orders and accessories.
What makes Hooga different from other red light therapy brands?
Hooga is built on three principles: clinically proven specs, fair pricing, and a product range that grows with you.
The most-studied wavelengths. All our panels deliver 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared — the wavelengths backed by the largest body of research — paired with low-EMF, flicker-free drivers and published irradiance figures so you know exactly what you're buying.
Direct-to-consumer pricing. We sell direct, skip the markups, and pass the savings on. Most Hooga panels come in well below comparable competitor models at the same power and coverage tier.
Real coverage, real options. From our $149 entry HG panels to full-wall 4500-series setups, plus wearables like belts, blankets, helmets, and face masks, Hooga has a device for every body part, budget, and use case — not just one or two flagship panels.
Industry-leading guarantees. Every full-size panel ships with a 60-day in-home trial and a 3-year warranty. Try it in your own space, on your own routine, with no risk.
US-based support. Real humans, fast shipping from our New Berlin, WI warehouse, and a customer team that actually knows the products.
We're not the flashiest brand in the category, and we're okay with that. We'd rather earn your trust by shipping clinically-grade hardware at a fair price.
