Founder-led since 2018
About Hooga
Hooga is a Wisconsin wellness technology company founded in 2018 and still run day to day by its three equal co-founders: Cord Young, Dave Hibler, and Tyler Galganski. There are no investors, no parent company, and no distant executive team telling us what to build. It is still us, a few great employees, and a shared belief that useful wellness products should be easier to understand, easier to use, and fairly priced.
How three people and one red light became Hooga
Our story actually starts before Hooga. Dave and Tyler started an apparel business together in 2009. In 2015, they met Cord when he joined the company as a college intern to help out. The internship stuck, the working relationship clicked, and the three of us went on to run that business together.
By 2018, we had learned a lot about building products, serving customers, managing inventory, and doing whatever needed to be done that day. The apparel business was seasonal, which gave us some breathing room to explore new ideas. All three of us had a personal interest in health, fitness, and wellness, so that was naturally where our attention went.
Then Cord bought his first red light therapy device.
It was expensive, but the experience made an impression on all three of us. We started digging into the technology together: the wavelengths, the components, and why the products on the market cost what they did. The more we learned, the more convinced we became that people should be able to get a well-built red light therapy device without paying an inflated price or sorting through a confusing sales pitch.
That curiosity turned into our first product order, and Hooga took off from there. What started with one red light quickly became our full focus and the company we wanted to build for the long term.
We use the products, too
We are not just selling red light therapy because it happens to be a growing category. All three of us use it, believe in it, and have seen the difference it can make in our own lives. That personal experience is a big reason we care so much about getting the products, education, and customer experience right.
We are naturally curious about health and performance, but we are also practical. We want to know how a product works, what the specifications mean, how it fits into a real routine, and where the evidence is strong or still developing. That is the same balance we try to bring to every Hooga product page, guide, and customer conversation.
Three equal founders. One hands-on team.

Tyler Galganski

As Hooga has grown, we have hired a few great people who help us take care of customers and keep the business moving. But we have not turned into founders who only show up for meetings. On any given day, you may find us unloading a truck, answering customer questions, fulfilling orders, processing returns, planning inventory, reviewing a new product, updating the website, working on SEO, handling accounting, or fixing whatever problem showed up that morning.
We all work across the business, and we all stay close to the products. That is not always the easiest way to run a growing company, but it keeps us honest, informed, and connected to the people buying from us.
Why being independent matters
Hooga has no outside investors or corporate parent. The three of us own the company, make the decisions, and live with the results. That gives us the freedom to move quickly, change course when something is not working, and invest in ideas we believe will make the products or customer experience better.
More importantly, the feedback loop is short. We talk with customers every day. We see the questions that come in before a purchase, the problems that can happen during setup, the reasons behind a return, and the features people want next. We can carry that information directly into a product decision, a clearer instruction manual, a better page on the website, or the next inventory order without waiting for it to pass through layers of management.
We are close enough to the business to hear what customers are telling us, and independent enough to do something about it.
What we believe
- Wellness technology should be understandable, not buried under jargon.
- Useful products should not require inflated pricing or exaggerated promises.
- Clear specifications and honest education help people make better decisions.
- Shipping, support, warranties, and returns are part of the product experience.
- The people making company decisions should stay close to customers and the products themselves.
