Designed around the routine
The useful difference is the way you wear it.

The rechargeable battery sits inside the mask, so there is no external controller cord during use. The remote is optional: Luma also operates from its on-mask power button.
Full-face rather than point-by-point
A mask holds its light source over the face for the session. Choose this format if you prefer a wearable routine rather than moving a wand across individual areas.
A timer that keeps things uncomplicated

The five modes use 630 nm red, 850 nm near-infrared, 465 nm blue, and 525 nm green, including two combination modes. Five modes does not mean five different wavelengths.

Luma is identified under FDA 510(k) clearance K253712 for an over-the-counter, adult home-use LED light therapy mask. The red and red/NIR modes are indicated for full-face wrinkles; blue and blue/red are indicated for mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne.
Clearance is a substantial-equivalence determination for specified indications, not a promise of a particular result or an endorsement of every light mode. Green is a cosmetic feature outside the cleared indications.

Choose the original for its red/NIR format
The original Hooga silicone Face Mask uses red, deep-red, and near-infrared wavelengths with a separate rechargeable controller connected by a cable. The right choice is the format and light options you prefer, not a promise that one delivers better results.

Prepare and fit
Cleanse and dry your face. Adjust the strap for a secure, comfortable fit. Read the safety instructions before first use and follow the manual's one-minute arm test.
Power on and choose
Hold the power button for two seconds to enter standby. Short-press the mask button, or use the remote's M button, to cycle through M1–M5 and choose your mode.
Let the timer finish
The five-minute session shuts off automatically. Follow with your usual skincare. The current routine guidance suggests 3–5 sessions per week; follow the manual and start conservatively if you are new to LED use.
Charging and care
Recharge it. Keep it ready.
USB-C charging
The built-in 2,000 mAh battery provides approximately 120 minutes of runtime, or about 24 five-minute sessions. A full charge takes approximately 3.5 hours. Actual runtime varies with use.
Use the included cable with a standard 5 V USB source as directed in the manual. The mask cannot operate while charging; unplug it before use.
Simple storage and cleaning
Power off and unplug before cleaning. Follow the manual's cleaning instructions, do not spray liquid onto the mask, and do not submerge it. Store it in the included velvet bag in a cool, dry place.
Recharge at least once every three months when stored for an extended period, as directed in the existing care guidance.

The practical questions.
Is it completely wireless during use?
Yes. The battery is built into the mask, so no external controller cable is needed during a session. The included remote is wireless, and the mask also works from its own button.
Are five modes the same as five wavelengths?
No. Luma uses four wavelengths: 630 nm, 850 nm, 465 nm, and 525 nm. Red/NIR and blue/red combinations bring the total to five selectable modes.
How long is a session?
Each selected mode runs for five minutes and shuts off automatically. The existing Session Guidelines describe optional longer use by starting another session. Follow the manual's recommendations; more time does not automatically mean a better result.
Do I have to use all the modes?
No. Choose the mode appropriate for your intended use and follow the manual. The modes are options, not a five-step sequence you must complete each time.
Can I use it while charging?
No. Charge with the included USB-C cable and the power source specified in the manual, then disconnect the cable before a session.
How long does the battery last?
Approximately 120 minutes, or around 24 five-minute sessions, on a full charge. Charging takes approximately 3.5 hours. Runtime can vary with use.
Is green mode FDA cleared for acne or wrinkles?
No. Green is an additional cosmetic feature, not part of the FDA-cleared indications. The cleared wrinkle indications concern red and red/NIR modes; the cleared mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne indications concern blue and blue/red.
What else is included in the clearance?
The existing cleared indications also include near-infrared topical heating to temporarily increase local blood circulation, temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain associated with arthritis and muscle spasm, relief of stiffness, and promotion of muscle relaxation. Use the device only as directed and review the full instructions and indications.
What should I check before first use?
Read the complete manual, including eye-protection guidance, contraindications, and the one-minute arm test. Existing product guidance advises against use for highly sensitive skin, recent injectables within three months, and certain active skin conditions. Consult a healthcare professional if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, take prescription or photosensitizing medication, or have had recent injectables.
