Hooga vs Joovv: Red Light Therapy Panel Comparison
A spec-by-spec, price-by-price look at how Hooga panels stack up against the Joovv® modular lineup. All numbers pulled directly from each brand's published product pages.
Quick take: Joovv® is the most recognizable name in the red light therapy panel space, with a polished modular ecosystem, a mobile app, and FDA 510(k) clearance on its Generation 3.0 panels. Hooga is the value-engineered alternative — comparable irradiance and wavelengths from many of our panels, often at a fraction of the price.
- Price gap is the headline: A Joovv® Solo 3.0 is $1,699. A Hooga PRO1500 is $1,199 with roughly 2× the LED count and a larger treatment area.
- Wavelengths: Joovv® Gen 3.0 panels emit 660 nm + 850 nm. Several Hooga panels offer the same. Our ULTRA1500 and ULTRA4500 add 630 nm and 810 nm for a four-wavelength session.
- Joovv®'s real advantages: FDA 510(k) clearance on the 3.0 lineup, Intertek-tested to IEC 60601, a modular ecosystem, and a mobile app with a Recovery+™ pulsed mode and session tracking.
- Hooga's real advantages: price, four-wavelength options, a built-in digital touchscreen with adjustable brightness, pulse, and timer (no app needed), and a 3-year warranty on most panels vs. Joovv®'s 2 years.
- Beyond panels: Hooga also offers a sauna-rated panel, hair/scalp devices, face masks, full-body wraps, and dozens of targeted devices. Joovv®'s catalog is panels + one handheld.
- If price is the deciding factor: Hooga is the clear answer. If a polished app and 510(k)-cleared device matter more to you, Joovv® has the edge there.
Targeted-treatment panels: Hooga PRO300 vs Joovv® Mini 3.0
Joovv®'s smallest standalone panel is the Mini 3.0 at $1,099. Hooga's most popular targeted panel, the PRO300, is $299. Both are sized for face, neck, shoulder, knee, and joint sessions. New to red light therapy? Start with our complete guide to red light therapy.

The PRO1500 is $500 less than the Solo 3.0 with double the LED count and the same coverage area. The trade-off is the Joovv® app and the Recovery+™ pulse mode, plus Joovv®'s 60-day return window. If the app matters to you, Joovv®'s ecosystem is better-developed. If you'd rather have a digital touchscreen with built-in pulse frequency, brightness, and timer controls, see the ULTRA1500 below.
Want a four-wavelength panel? Hooga ULTRA1500 vs Joovv® Solo 3.0

The PRO4500 is $600 less than the Duo 3.0 and gives you 3× the LED count in a panel that stands more than five feet tall. The ULTRA4500 is $200 less than the Duo 3.0 and adds two more wavelengths in a quad-chip configuration. If you want a true full-body session standing up — head to feet in one panel — Hooga's PRO4500 and ULTRA4500 cover more area than the Duo at a lower price.
The premium tier: Joovv® Quad / Elite 3.0 vs Hooga full-body arrays
Joovv®'s top-end panels — the Quad ($7,399) and the Elite ($11,099) — are built from four and six Solo modules respectively. They're impressive systems, but they're also the most expensive panels in the consumer market. Here's how Hooga's largest setups compare.

Hooga array pricing calculated as 4× individual panel price; contact us if you're building a multi-panel setup. Joovv® specs and pricing from their Quad and Elite product pages.
Four PRO1500 panels mounted on a Hooga stand give you essentially the same coverage as a Joovv® Quad — which Joovv® itself describes as being "built from four Joovv Solo panels" — for $3,400 less. Four ULTRA1500 panels add two extra wavelengths and a higher LED density, still $2,500 less than the Quad. The Elite 3.0 adds two more Solo panels for wider coverage, but at $11,099 it's $7,000+ more than a comparable Hooga 4× ULTRA1500 setup.
One caveat on the multi-panel approach: a Hooga 4× setup is built from individual panels and requires a separate stand (available in our panel collection) to mount them — Joovv®'s Quad and Elite ship pre-assembled on a single frame. If you'd rather skip the stand and the assembly, our PRO4500 ($3,099) and ULTRA4500 ($3,499) are single full-body panels that stand 5+ feet tall on their own — no stand purchase, no multi-panel mounting. They're still less expensive than the Joovv® Duo 3.0 and dramatically less than the Quad or Elite.
Where each brand actually wins
Choose Hooga if you want…
- Significantly lower prices — typically 30–60% less for comparable specs.
- Four-wavelength panels (630/660/810/850 nm) — the ULTRA1500 and ULTRA4500.
- An onboard digital touchscreen with adjustable brightness (1–100%), pulse frequency (1–9999 Hz), and timer — no phone or app required.
- A 3-year warranty on most panels.
- Truly full-body single panels (the PRO4500 and ULTRA4500 stand 5+ feet tall on their own).
- Modular setups when you want them, but not as a default.
Choose Joovv® if you want…
- FDA 510(k) clearance on the device itself — the Generation 3.0 panels carry this clearance. Hooga panels and most other consumer brands do not.
- Intertek third-party testing to IEC 60601 medical-electrical safety standards.
- The most recognized brand name in the consumer red light therapy panel category.
- A polished mobile app with session tracking, scheduling, the Recovery+™ pulsed NIR mode, and an Ambient evening setting.
- The expandable Solo→Duo→Max→Quad→Elite ecosystem if you plan to grow your setup over time.
- A 60-day return window — longer than Hooga's 30-day window.
Hooga's red light therapy ecosystem goes well beyond panels
Joovv®'s product line is intentionally narrow: the Generation 3.0 panels (Mini, Solo, Half-Max, Duo, Max, Quad, Elite) and the handheld Joovv® Go 2.0. That's it. Hooga has built out a much wider catalog of red light therapy products for the parts of your routine a panel can't reach.
| Use case | Hooga option | Joovv® equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Sauna integration | SaunaPRO ($1,199) — built for sauna environments | None offered |
| Hair & scalp | Red Light Therapy Hat ($299), Laser Helmet ($499) | None offered |
| Face & skin | LED Face Mask ($179), Facial Wand ($70) | None offered |
| Full-body wrap | Red Light Therapy Pod ($1,199), Pod XL ($1,399) | None offered |
| Wearable wrap | RLT Belt ($249) | None offered |
| Targeted handheld | Torch ($139), Dot ($79) | Joovv® Go 2.0 ($549) |
| Joint & targeted body | Knee Massager ($179) and other targeted devices | None offered |
All prices from Hooga's product collection, retrieved May 2026.
If you're building a complete red light therapy routine, Hooga lets you mix a panel with hair, face, sauna, or wearable products from the same brand under the same warranty terms. Joovv® will sell you a panel and a handheld; for everything else, you'd be sourcing from third parties.
What "FDA 510(k) clearance" actually means here
This is worth explaining honestly because it's a real difference. Joovv®'s Generation 3.0 panels are classified as Class II medical devices and have received 510(k) clearance from the FDA. That clearance means Joovv® demonstrated to the FDA that the device is "substantially equivalent" to a previously cleared device, with safety and effectiveness data submitted under a specific intended use.
Hooga's panels are not 510(k) cleared. They are sold as general wellness products. We do not market them with specific medical indications, and we don't make medical claims about treating, curing, or preventing disease.
For most home users, this distinction often doesn't change how the panel feels, what it emits, or how you use it day-to-day. It does mean Joovv® has gone through an FDA review process Hooga has not. That's a fair point in their favor, and you should weigh it according to what matters to you.

See all Hooga panelsThe bottom line on specs that actually matter
Both Joovv® and Hooga sell well-built red light therapy panels with low-EMF, flicker-free designs. Joovv® has invested heavily in regulatory clearance, third-party safety testing, and a mobile app ecosystem — and they charge for it. Hooga has invested heavily in driving the same wavelengths, similar irradiance, and additional features (four wavelengths, onboard touchscreen, longer warranty) at a price point that's typically 30–60% lower.
If you've already decided you want the Joovv® brand, the app, or the 510(k) clearance, buy a Joovv®. If you want the most red light therapy panel for your dollar — especially for full-body coverage — Hooga is built for that.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Hooga as effective as Joovv®?
Effectiveness in red light therapy comes down to wavelength, irradiance (power density), treatment area, and consistency of use. On all three measurable variables — wavelength, irradiance, and treatment area — Hooga panels match or exceed comparable Joovv® panels. The ULTRA1500 goes a step further with four wavelengths versus Joovv®'s two. We don't make medical claims about either product, but on raw specs, Hooga is competitive.
Why is Joovv® so much more expensive?
Joovv® invests in things Hooga doesn't: FDA 510(k) clearance on its devices, third-party Intertek testing, a mobile app, and a strong brand-marketing budget. Those costs are real, and they show up in the price. Whether they're worth the premium for your use case is your call.
Does Hooga have FDA clearance?
No. Hooga panels are sold as general wellness products and are not 510(k) cleared. We do not make medical claims about treating, curing, or preventing any condition. Joovv®'s Generation 3.0 panels are 510(k) cleared as Class II medical devices. If FDA clearance is a hard requirement for you, Joovv® meets that requirement and Hooga does not.
What's the difference between Joovv®'s app and Hooga's onboard controls?
Joovv® controls advanced settings — brightness, the Recovery+™ pulse, Ambient mode, scheduling — through its iOS and Android app over Bluetooth. Hooga's ULTRA1500 and ULTRA4500 put those same kinds of controls (adjustable brightness, pulse frequency from 1–9999 Hz, timer) onto a built-in digital touchscreen on the panel itself. Neither approach is universally better — it depends on whether you'd rather use your phone or a dedicated control panel.
Does Hooga offer a modular setup like the Solo→Duo→Max→Quad→Elite path?
Yes. Hooga's PRO and ULTRA series panels are stand-compatible: you can run a single PRO750 or PRO1500, then add additional panels mounted on a stand to build out a multi-panel setup later. Four-panel arrays of either the PRO1500 or ULTRA1500 give you Quad-class coverage at a lower starting price than the Joovv® Quad. Reach out and we'll help you spec the right setup.
Which Hooga panel should I get if I'm coming from a Joovv® Solo?
If you want roughly the same form factor and a $500 lower price, the PRO1500 is the closest match — same 36" height, 660 + 850 nm wavelengths, 2× the LED count. If you want to step up to four wavelengths, the ULTRA1500 is $300 below the Solo and adds 630 + 810 nm. Browse all Hooga panels.
Does Hooga or Joovv® have a longer warranty?
Hooga offers a 3-year warranty on most of its panels. Joovv®'s Generation 3.0 panels carry a 2-year warranty (the handheld Joovv® Go 2.0 has a 1-year warranty).
Return policy comparison?
Joovv® offers a 60-day return window on Mini, Solo, and the larger Generation 3.0 panels. Hooga offers a 30-day return window. If a longer trial period matters to you, Joovv® has the edge there.
